Not All Mistakes Are Bad

So if you are a paper crafter, chances are you are using rubber stamps like I do. They are the core of my creations and I am so in love with them, I became a Stampin' Up! demonstrator 10 years ago.

One thing that can happen when stamping, if you aren't careful, is a "halo" effect. This is when ink gets on the rubber edge and ends up on your paper in addition to the image you were stamping. Here is an example.
The only thing I wanted to stamp was "hello" but I also got a few lines above and below.
If the halo effect is really bad, you may want to just flip your paper over and try again. But there a couple to options to fix it. The first one is to use the tip of your scissors or a hobby blade to gently scrape the ink off the paper. This will rough up the paper surface slightly, but if it's a tiny spot, it can be barely noticeable. Another option, probably the more popular idea, is to cover it up. When I made this card, I decided it was so cute I wanted to make another one.

Unfortunately I had a halo effect occur and I had already stamped the bottom sentiment and the little party hat, so I decided to cover my mistake instead of flipping the paper for another go. Here's what I ended up with.

Also very cute, right? I just used a scrap of the gold paper, and then I decided to go with gold sequins instead of Bermuda Bay. So while I was trying to make due and get the card finished, I actually ended up with another version that is just as cute as the first.

This is the Hello stamp set from the current Sale-A-Bration promotion. It's FREE when you spend $50, and it's also a limited offer set, available through 2/15 (or while supplies last). http://tinyurl.com/SAB-2016

Challenges a Plenty

A Sketch:

Well it's Friday again, and I've posted a DPS this week. It's not too fancy, but I think it'll be a fun layout to use, and once I pick up my photo order this week end I should be back on the road to Scrapville! hee hee

Something REALLY Unique:

My gal pal Peggy has come up with another really fab, think outside the box, scrapping challenge. First you take this test to reveal your crayon color. CLICK ME
Then you scrap "your color" and include it's opposite on your page. Your color should be the focus, and you can include other colors too, this should be FUN!
Here are my results...

You Are a Red Crayon

Your world is colored with bright, vivid, wild colors.

You have a deep, complex personality - and you are always expressing something about yourself.

Bold and dominant, you are a natural leader. You have an energy that is intense... and sometimes overwhelming.

Your reaction to everything tends to be strong. You are the master of love-hate relationships.

Your color wheel opposite is green. Green people are way too mellow to understand what drives your energy.

Delicious Divas:

Another regular challenge we have on Splitcoast is the Diva Designer Challenge. This week Ngaire Bartlam joins us and her challenge is a simple one. "To create a collage using LOTS of different stamped images. You can use this collage on wall art, or a card, or a scrapbook layout, or an ATC.. or what ever your artistic heart desires!!!"
She made an index book for her unmounted stamps, very cool!

An Announcement:

Once again it is time for Virtual Scrapbooking AKA VSBN! Tomorrow at 1:00 PM CST the first challenge will be posted and it will be followed by 3 others. Each challenge allows 2 hours for you to create, and then TIMES UP! Well you don't have to scrap the challenges as they are posted, you don't have to do them in order or even do them all. But it's always a lot of fun, and I usually get a lot done during VSBN, so stop by, we'd love to have ya!

Friendly Friday!!!

Happy, happy Friday everyone!

I posted a new sketch challenge today, and here it is for your delight and amazement! *tee hee* But seriously, I'm pretty excited about it. I also posted a little twist this week....I would like you to scrap about friendship and use a quote or a poem on your page!

I found a couple of websites to assist with quotes about friendship. You can use one of them, or feel free to use one of your own!!! Scrap pictures of someone truly dear to you, and either upload on SCS, or post a link to your page in my comments. I love to see the variety of creations that result from one idea! I'll be scrapping my own version this weekend, so watch for it!

What to do, when it has to be BLUE!

I snapped up several pocket folders when Staples had them for a penny, but didn't have our school supply list yet at the time. I thought I was cool bringing 2 of each color to the counter, but my dreams were quickly shattered when I found out I could only buy 10, and I had 14. :( *poo*
Well the supplies list came out weeks ago and we didn't need white, but I use those for SU! parties anyway, so it's all good, and I was glad orange (yuk) was one of the colors I discarded. But OH NO, I'd put back the blue ones in lieu of the purple!!! If you know me, you know I LOVE PURPLE, but sadly the supply list called for yellow, green, red, and blue.
Today after work I zipped over there with my *snif, snif* purple folders to exchange them for blue, and they did NOT have any with brads! *totally shocking* So what could I do!? I decided to exchange the purple anyway and get 2 more white ones...
