Valentine Recepticles

The girls are having their Valentine parties next Friday so we needed to make boxes for their Valentines this weekend. I saved a few cereal boxes over the last couple of weeks to have some size varieties and had an awesome idea for Natalie's box, but she thought it would take too long to do today and opted for a simple design...you'll have to wait for next years box on that one, I think I've sold her on the idea, she was just too pressured to whip it up in one day. ;)
Fun retired paper with glittered images, and we used the That's The Ticket Stamp Set from the Spring Catalog.
Cut the heart from an extra box and it's covered with paper and popped up on a dimensional.
This will be Sydney's last year to make a box...Middle School next year! Love the confidant pose. lol
Her box is 100% a Sydney creation. Her paper choice was not Stampin' Up! but I gave the girls access to a whole box of 12x12 paper and this was from a paper stack that has many shades of pink.
She did use SU! punches!!
When I saw how she had cut the top layer of paper I laughed and said, "you should write dripping with love on it." She thought of something better and rolled with it! :)

Cards Cards Cards

Using the new Honeycomb Embossing Folder in my BigShot was a top priority when this little guy came to my house to stay! lol I love the all the possibilities this has! I'm also in love with the Flower Trim. You get 2 yards of these lovely flowers in Vanilla and it's so easy to tint them in any of our colors!
All you do is put a drop of ink from a Reinker bottle into a Color Spritzer and add a little water...depending how much you want to dilute the color. I only added water 1/3 of the way filled with one drop of ink.
Two cards using nearly the same supplies...
This one has the Honeycomb texture on the entire card front
The Pinwheel Die is so so cute!! It's really small and took some patience to put the Brad through the holes, but only took a moment to get them all secured. It helps to use your Bone Folder to bend the paper gently before you attach them in the center. My stick is just a toothpick secured on a Glue Dot!

When I first saw the new Soda Pop Tops I was in love! I want to make everything with them! tee hee The hottest new trend is the chalkboard look. Super easy to achieve. Just heat emboss with Whisper White, on Basic Black Paper...I used the Vintage Verses Stamp Set (FREE with the SAB promo). Then with a damp towel or rag smear a little of that White Craft Ink on your paper, or you can just use a sponge to smear it with. It's a super easy technique - LOVE IT!! I used my Watercolor Pencils to draw the border. This one was meant to be quick and simple, I had to fight the urge to add another layer.

This is another example of this technique from the card we made at our quarterly Stamp'n Share last Friday night. The stamped image is from the From My Heart Stamp Set and lookie lookie, the Honeycomb Embossing Folder, a flower from the Flower Trim, AND a Tea Lace Paper Doily! Totally GORGEOUS!! :)

The Sweet Threads Simply Sent Card Kit in the Spring Catalog is adorable. It comes with threads and needles so you can cross stitch the images on the white piece, so I decided to try it. I had a little trouble with the tulip, so I thinned out the threads and only used 2 twisted strands for the stem (I think one piece of yarn is composed of 5 thin strands). I also added some DSP to give it a little more color, but the cards are very cute as is!

Just Call Me the Procrastinate Princess

I came across the photo below and it made me smile. The weekend I made these tie backs for my bedroom curtains I was really supposed to be making cards for upcoming birthdays!! But in my defense they are simple strips of fabric that took me maybe an hour tops to sew. I attached velcro on the ends because I didn't want to jack with tying them every day, and I added a little fringe to keep them from looking overly simple!

I distract myself with new projects all the time. These curtains have been hanging in my bedroom for at least 5 years now and I have yet to hem the bottom of them properly...but I have tiebacks now by golly!

Umhemmed...my secret shame!

This window is one of Lego's favorite places to sit and watch the world outside, so I have to take a lint brush to these curtains fairly often...
Lego was busy playing in a box while I was taking pictures. LOVE him!!!
I also added the valance at the top a while back to cover the arched portion of the window and block the moonlight (and streetlamp) from shining in at night. These are pretty good blackout curtains for sleeping in and afternoon naps...not that I can ever get one of those! lol

I tend to get on a roll sometimes leaving other "duties" in the dust. As a matter of fact, i SHOULD be updating my events schedule for my February Newsletter right now!
Happy Friday! Have an awesome weekend and be sure to check my Facebook page later for today's Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge!!!
